I just got the amp and surround speakers this week and got around to setting it up tonight
I have a DVD player, Motorola DVR and PS/2 hooked up. I already had a Buffalo IR repeating system in place that worked fine with the old amp. For some reason, I can't get the IR commands from the Onkyo remote to work when going through the repeating system. It works fine when I point it directly at the receiver.
Here's the testing I've done so far.
I can use the Comcast remote that came with the DVR and it works fine controlling the DVR and DVD player through the IR repeater. I can take the flasher for the receiver, hold it close to the DVR and it passes the signal through no problem.
When I use the Onkyo remote, the signal LED on the flasher lights up, so it's definitely receiving the signal.
I've tried holding the Onkyo remote 1' from the IR receiver, no change. Again, I can point the remote in the general direction of the sensor on the receiver and it works great, even if I'm 10' away.
The only thing I can come up with is the repeating system is somehow corrupting the signal from the Onkyo remote, but that just seems odd since other remotes control other components through it just fine, including my prior receiver.
BEIR100 Buffalo Electronics IR Connecting Block and Power Supply
BEIRE1 Buffalo Electronics Infrared Flasher/Emitter
BEIR250WI Buffalo Electronics J-Box Style IR Repeater/Receiver
Receiver and connecting block are connected by 30' of CAT3 cable
Has anyone run into a problem like this before?
