View Full Version : mount purchase mistake?

I am having my 50pz850 installed next Saturday - so I have to act fast on this.

I purchased a Sanus VMPL50 late last night (I know - first mistake). Now, I realize that it says it's good up to 50" screen - but I'm wondering if I should have gone with the larger VMPL Tilting Mount for x-tra large screens (range 32"- 60") which puts my TV comfortably in mid-range for that mount, rather than at the top end?

Also - should I consider instead the omnimount - either the U3 Tilt or the ULPT-L?

Thanks for your input.

i don't think you made any mistake.

i have used VMPL50 3 times: one for my 50" Pio & helped friends to hang their 50" tvs. the mount is good, and easy to install.

for my older unit 60" pio, i used U3T (ominmount), that is good too but the tilting is easier on sanus

That mount should work , hopefully you don't need to much fudge room to get it centered because you don't have a lot of play with that mount and that tv, you might want to go to the vmpl just to give yourself some more fudge factor.

Well, seeing as the VMPL2 slated for up to 60" TV's missed the mounting holes on my 151FD (60" plasma) by over an inch in every direction, I'd be a little wary of using a Sanus mount at the upper end of its stated range.

I have 2 50PZ80U's and hung them both with the VMPL....worked like a charm without any problems

That mount is fine, nice choice staying away from a cheap mount........

That's good to know thank you! My main concern right now is if I have off-center studs will I have enough lateral flexibility to ensure a central position on the wall. Do either of you know approximately how many inches will I have to play with on either side?
