I just recently bought a MGS4 bundle PS3 last wednesday and I have been having some issues with it when connected to my Spherex 5.1 system. I've had a 360 ever since launch and it never gave me a problem. It seems that when I'm on the XMB dashboard, and as I'm scrolling through the menu, the individual keytones don't work; instead my sub just pops as i scroll through it. I have the ps3 hooked up through hdmi to my tv, and then hooked up to the spherex through an optical cable. i set the audio options to output through optical using dolby 5.1. Am i doing something wrong?

yea, the optical cable is going straight from the PS3 to the spherex. I actually tried to have the ps3 output the sound through hdmi to my tv, and then ran an optical cable from my tv to the spherex, but that didn't do anything.

Thank you for the response, now I get why I can't hear the individual keytones in the XMB, and as you had suggested, I just turned them off completely earlier because it was getting annoying to hear the sub come in and out randomly as i was scrolling the menu.

As far as me double posting, that was done, as stated on the xbox forum, because spherex was branded as a xbox peripheral. Also, as someone mentioned, spherex owners are few and far between, so i thought I'd increase my chances by asking members of both the xbox and playstation community.
