how well does the old dualshock 2 work with the PS3? I know there's an adapter, but I was wondering if the rumble function works if I use a dualshock 2.

works fine... huh? I have a PS2 to PS3 adapter, and I've used a DualShock 2 with it, and it doesn't rumble during PS3 games. Are you saying a DualShock 3 will rumble during PS3 games? Cause it's never rumbled for me. My DualShock 3 rumbles fine with my PS3 games, but the DualShock 3 with the adapter doesn't rumble at all.

The DS2 will indeed rumble with PS3 games that support it...

Using the DS2, is there a setting or something to enable the rumble? My DS2's have never rumbled no matter what game I put in the PS3.

It'd be nice for it to work in PS3 games, but I'm more concerned with getting my PS2 games to rumble with my DS2 controller.

I don't have any PS2 controllers right now though so I'm not sure how it funtions after the 2.41 update.

It doesn't work that way for me. It won't turn on the system or go to the quit menu/XMB. Maybe it depends on the adaptor?

BTW, I got my MGS essentials collection, and this is the first time I've played an original PlayStation game on the PS3. Using the Dual Shock 2, I cannot get the analog sticks or vibration to work. These functions will work in PS2 games, so I know it's not the controller.

For the vibration, I think you need to go into the old PS button menu and switch it on from there.

That doesn't work, because to get to that menu I have to use the PS button on the Dual Shock 3 controller (since the DS2 doesn't have a PS button). So, any settings only apply to the DS3.
