I just got my 890 programmed for my theater by want to add dimmer control.
I think zwave might be best for me since I wont be aiming directly at the wall switch (just in the general direction) since I have to aim up at the projector. The rf extender is on my component rack at the back of the room. Which wall switches work with the 890? I used the compatiblity guide to find out if the ge 600 watt one works (can't post url), but it didn't come up as compatible.

I'd go with z-wave since you don't need line of sight. I just ordered two dimmer switches from amazon for $28 each shipped.

You could try a Lutron Maestro IR wall dimmer. The IR receiver on them is very good, and there is a good chance that it will still work if you are pointing within 75° or so of it (or if it can get a good bounce). I actually have the remote that came with the unit velcroed to the wall near my apartment entrance door pointing straight up (approx 20 feet away from the wall switch at the same height) and it still works great.

They sell them at Home Depot, and you could always take it back if it doesn't work well for you.

well if you want to go that route the coupon code is har100. if you live in an apartment or condo i suggest you put the unit number in the first address line, i used a different line that didnt get printed and had to drive to the airport UPS campus and pick it up myself, eleven dollars spent on driving through dc suburbs..........

i hope you have patience because harmony phone support say that they only support z-wave on the 890 pro and that any cooperation between z-wave and a standard 890 is incidental...

i wasn't even nasty with that company!!! how could I be, they dont answer their phone.
