l heard that a ps3 can only be connected to a pc monitor like the way xbox 360 does If the monitor supports HDMI+HDCP or Component video, why cant it be done like xbox 360, a vga to ps3's av multi out cable?

What you heard seems to be correct. For hidef on the PS3, you need HDMI or DVI with HDCP or component video. There are some breakout boxes that can work around the HDCP requirement. But VGA doesn't seem to have gotten any support.

Whats a better connection? HDMI or VGA if I buy this cable for my plasma would there be any difference in picture quality? My Plasma accepts both :)

LOL at how they made that site a knockoff of IGN (minus the obnoxious advertising). I may look into that cable since I'm considering getting a Wii someday.

Bear in mind that a 16:10 monitor will show some stretching if the monitor doesn't have its own aspect ratio correction, since it isn't 16:9. I find that setting the PS3 to 720p is acceptable though, as for some reason the monitor (Samsung 226BW) barely stretches the image and instead cuts a little off the sides. I'll take a little cropping over stretching. In any case, my next monitor will definitely have its own controls for AR correction.

I have a non-HDCP monitor that I want to use with my PS3...well to use as a monitor. I don't want to turn my projector everytime I want to check the PS3 store, download a demo etc.... I won't use it to watch movies or play games so resolution isn't a big deal for me.

I also don't want to invest in another monitor or HD-fury or any of that. I want a simple DVI or VGA connection to my non-HDCP monitor.
