an old Go Video DVD player/VCR combo. Want the best Panasonic DVD recorder/VCR combo currently available. I realize with great regret that there will be no HDD involved (another subject entirely), but am limiting to Panny because I need the ability to read/play DVD RAM. What are my options, please?

How to put the video into my personal website

I have a video which is converted into flv and swf formats. I did it with a software called Flash Video MX Pro. The software is great. I added many special effects with it. But how can I share my video with my friends. Someone told me that I could upload it to my personal website. Can anyone kindly enough to tell me how to put it into my personal website? And will the special effects influnce the quality? Thank you.

Pat, if you need a tuner the EZ-48 is Pannys best combo currently made. If you don't need the tuner the EA-38 is similar but omits the digital tuner.
If you have a Costco membership and their summer coupon book, THIS WEEK ONLY they have a $40 off coupon. Which in my area brings it down to ~$229. Otherwise I think its retail is ~$300. Sams sells it for ~$280 and includes the HDMI cable(as does Costco). I think both BB and CC also sell the EZ-48. Most people have had good luck with the unit, much better than last years buggy EZ-47.

Since posting this, I've read on this forum that high speed duping of RAM disks made on this machine is not possible on other machines that read RAM disks. If true, an annoying distraction. But here's another question. Is it possible to do a timer VHS recording with this machine? It's not with the EH75. This might seem an odd question for the digital age, but I often record stuff for a friend of mine who remains stubbornly devoted to VHS.

I think what you're getting at with your first question is that since the EZ-48 does not have the HS copy option that you cannot HS copy a RAM disc made on this machine. On my EH-55 I can HS copy a RAM disc(to HDD) made on my ES machines(non HS option), its just then I CANNOT HS copy THAT title off my EH-55's HDD to a standard disc, that must be done realtime. I don't use a computer for copying so will have to defer on how the same RAM would copy on a computer.
As far as point 2, I would be very surprised if the EH-75 did not allow a VHS timer recording(but I've never used a EH-75). From what I understand the EZ-48 will allow a VHS timer recording, but just NOT off a digital channel. Since the EH-75 doesn't have a digital tuner I can't imagine the restriction. Hopefully others with these machines will confirm or deny my statements.
If you want to record a digital station to VHS using the Pannys I would suggest a STB(or CECB for OTA) hooked to the line input. They should have no problem recording to VHS. It seems silly to me why Panasonic crippled the VHS section by not allowing digital channels to be recorded to VHS. My guess is it has something to do with misguided CP. Hollywood looking out for us again:p Other brand combos may not have this restriction, I don't know.

jjeff is correct. A RAM disc with material recorded to it from a non hdd based Panny recorder, can be high speed dubbed to a Panny hdd model. You just can't h-s dub that from the hdd to a non RAM disc. A weird choice for the designers/engineers to make-I would want customers happy with my hdd units, to be able to have a newer model compatible with the older ones...And a RAM disc can be copied to your pc drive without problem on pcs with RAM capatible drives, for editing with a dvd authoring program that supports RAM/DVD_RTAV file format.

More weirdness...since vhs is inferior to recording the image directly to a dvd-r, why would they deny that option too?

Thanks for confirming my RAM thoughts. I just got my EH-55 and thought I had that part figured out, but it's always nice to get a confirmation:)
I had to do many tests to figure it out. As some may know I love tests;)
Having never had a HDD unit I had no clue about the HS option until getting my EH-55.

Pat,

If you don't have to have the VHS combo, the EH55 (with HDD) is a pretty powerful machine. I just picked up a used one on eBay about a month ago, used, but just like new, for just under $500 including shipping.
