Maybe this is especially interesting for CRt users: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1042160
I developed a VideoEqualizer which lets you change the LUT of your video card. Of course analogue output is the way to go, because standard DVI/HDMI is only 8 bit per colour and the LUT/RAMDAC works with 10 bits internally.
I already used it on my Sony G90. Maybe I can post HCFR measurement comparisons later. :)

Looks good even though I haven't started playing with gamma.

Very nice,
I'll have to try it out tonight.

It does not work on overlay...Correct? So for PowerDVD it will not effect. :(
Oh well...VMR9/EVR users can have fun :)
Nice work!

VERY cool! I've been looking for something like this; there doesn't seem to be a good one for ffdshow and even that would be processing after the render, like you say, and losing data. I'll let you know how it works out, though it'll be a while before I get the theater up and running. This is a big piece of the remaining puzzle! :D

Thanks. I have searched for many hours after a way to access the LUT in more than 8 bit form.

Here are measurements from my G90 with native gamma and with custom LUT using VideoEqualizer. As you can see all colours have a gamma between 2.4 and 2.5. The blue hump is also no big deal anymore. :)
Nils,
Interesting. If I can tame the blue hump without defocusing that would be a bonus!
I have the Equalizer and Gamma EXE files. How do you load a custom LUT file?

Just manipulate the LUT using VideoEqualizer and save it. Then load this file using GammaLoader like this:
c:\GammaLoader.exe yourlut.lut

Looks interesting Follgoot.
I will play with it tonight.
Just some questions though, how do you "unload" the lut file and go back to normal if I wish to return to powerstrip controlled gamma?
And can you specify which monitor you wish to equalise in a multi monitor setup?
