Sweet! Anyone have any more info?

Wonder if there's any chance it will be as good as COD4? Looks like maybe vehicles (tank?), and I saw a flamethrower in there. I know a lot of people would think it'd be lame of them to do, but I really wouldn't mind "another COD4." That is, basically the same game with some different character models, maps, weapons, and potentially a couple twists like vehicles. A twist on a favorite, if you will. But keep stuff like the multiplayer mode types (maybe not EXACTLY, but the same idea) and the ranking / upgrade system, etc. I would be all over it.

Well it's using the COD4 engine, and apparently perks will be back.

Was just reading a little more about it. Looks like they are shooting for a fall release date. Set in WWII. It is on the COD4 engine. Features 4 player online co-op, 2 player local split screen co-op, perk system for multiplayer, they will have a flamethrower, no mention of vehicles in the article I read.

Sounds like it might be worth checking out.

Just so everyone knows ahead of time...Call of Duty 5 (World At War) is being produced by Treyarch (the same company that made Call of Duty 3, which was pure crap).

Infinity Ward (which made Call of Duty 1, 2, & 4) has NOTHING to do with this new Call of Duty 5.

Why would they do that? The stuff Infinity Ward has been doing has been absolutely top-notch. I don't understand it when people go and change up a proven success model... unless of course they are trying to squeeze every dollar they can out of it. Maybe Treyarch is doing it for a lot less money than Infinity Ward? I'd love to get some solid details on their reasons for this decision.

I already knew that since they annouced COD5. But they are using the COD4 engine. So far it looks better than expected. We will have to wait and see.

That's not a new arrangement. It has always alternated between IW and Treyarch. I'm holding out hope that with the COD4 engine, Treyarch can step up their quality...

This summarizes the majority of the pointless criticism of this game thus far. Folks are already writing off COD5. Treyarch had like 10 months on part 3, and they've had over 2 years on this one, not to mention being able to use the COD4 engine. Oh yeah, 3 was not pure crap, it was actually a really good online game. Compared to 2 single player though, yes 3 was lacking.

Anyways, looking great thus far. First person shooter fans would be missing out not looking closely at this game.

Calling COD3 pure crap is a fair amount of hyperbole. It had a better SP experience than COD2 by miles, along with better graphics and better MP. And in only a year's time from beginning development to shipping a game. I'd expect this game to be pretty good with 2 years development time and Treyarch's history (in general and COD3 in particular), but it's nearly impossible to judge a game without playing it and this far from release.

The rumor I hear is that Infinity Ward is looking at making CoD6 to be set in the future, but I'm not sure how far forward if true. Maybe space marines? I dunno.

They have not, before Treyarch did the console CoD games (which I heard were pretty good), but they started alternating this generation.

CoD3 wasn't pure crap, but Spiderman 3 was one of the worst games to come out last year. I am skeptical.

Have you EVER played a decent Spiderman game?

Spiderman 2 was the definition of a "decent" game. It had its problems but it had lots of good stuff too. There was enough of a base to build on to make S3 really awesome.

Ugh...no thanks.

IMO, the only thing that could possibly be lamer and more banal than another realistic modern FPS is another space marine FPS.

Well hopefully when they say "future" they mean like only 10 years in the future. There have been a lot of technological improvements in the past 10 years (think of the cool tech in GRAW2) which could be implemented in a game if done right.

The engine is awesome, so I'm glad they're not doing a full refresh of it. With that said, I would love to see them get it running smoothly at true 720p or higher. Anyone heard anything with regards to this?

To me, higher res graphics would push this one over the top, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's thinking this. They've got to know this already. If you guys agree, it might be good to go to their website and start a thread, or send some emails to the effect of what's been said here.

well, they said that Treyarch has been producing this for 2 years, COD4 was released last fall, so they couldnt have known the sucess of COD4 before Treyarch was in development. 1 year into development, they arent going to kick a developer aside becuase of success of a game. Hopefully TA will do the series well. I wont be buying it when it first comes out, i will wait for some online reviews and gameplay videos

Even if it's running on the COD4 engine, it's stuck back in WWII AGAIN Is anybody not tired of shooting old-ass guns at Germans and the Japanese?

I guess Treyarch still love it -or it's easier to use somebody else's engine and slap WWII on it.
