Has anyone recorded something on the hard drive and go to look at it and either you can't and/or it pauses somewhere during the show? Or once you edit it and are getting ready to put it on dvd, you can't because it's stuck-it just doesn't play back?
Is there anything you can do? If so what?
Linda
I haven't seem any similar things, but you could have what I call "colliding" chapter marks, esp. if you are auto-chaptering the HDD at 5-min. intervals, then delete scenes, which adds more chapter marks.
You can go into the Chapter Edit menu and delete chapters, as described in this post (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=12298466&postcount=17)... look for "Editing Titles with Chapter Marks."
That post explains what *might* be happening and a possible remedy that's worked for other "odd" situations.

Thanks, I'll try those suggestions.

See my comment in the other thread about similar issues when dividing a title.
Workarounds:
1. Dub in real-time mode (instead of High Speed) from the start, and use the front panel Stop button to stop it manually when it hits the bad point. The index will be correctly written out to the DVD, allowing you to access as much as you were able to record.
2. If the end of the HDD title seems to be corrupt and it freezes a few seconds from the end on playback, try shaving a few more seconds off the end with another title divide. I've seen that correct the problem with the first title.
I experienced similar issues and downloaded a firmware update from the Philips website to corrected the problems. Download the firmware to your PC hard drive, open the file and copy it to a CD-RW. Run the RW in the recorder following the instructions provided by Philip's.
The firmware will update the recorder's operating system and should correct the editing problems you are experiencing. At least it fixed all my problems and I am now able to delete commercials, divide programs and dub to DVD-R. After running the firmware you will have to again setup the recorder as you previously did.
There's still only one firmware update posted by Philips for the 3575, the same one that's been there for a year. It has nothing to do with editing problems.
That is probably the firmware update I loaded into my Philips recorder to correct editing problems I was experiencing. I remember the descriptions Philips placed on the updates had nothing to do with editing and I didn't think they would correct the problems. I ran the update anyways and it worked.
When I attempted to edit a program the file froze and became unusable. Since updating the operating system with the firmware update I have not experienced any editing problems.

Has there been any discussion about the feasibility of replacing the hard drive in these Philips recorders?
1) Is it possible to open the case and make the change based physical considerations?
2) Are there proprietorial formatting considerations?
3) Would it be possible to increase the hard drive size?
Bottom of this page has what I think is all we know about replacing the HDD up to this point? (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=12474556&postcount=133)
