Hi guys. I was wondering what is the audio bitrate of plain old DTS on Blu Ray? Is it the full DTS spec of 1.5Mb/sec or is it the lower SD DVD bitrate of around 758 Kb/sec? Reason I'm asking is that a few Paramount Blu Ray titles have DTS 5.1 and I'm wondering if I should pick them up. They have 1080p PQ but I want both good PQ and AQ.

I know DTS HD MA has a 'core" DTS track of 1.5Mb/sec and it sounds great on my Panasonic DMP-BD10A.

You can take a peek the Unofficial Blu-ray Audio and Video Specs Thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=760714) on this forum if you are curious about the audio bitrate of a particular title. All of the 5.1 DTS titles I've seen were the full 1.5Mbps, but I don't think this is strictly required.

I know Windtalkers is 768Kbps DTS. I think that one is DTS-HD MA, too. It seems the 1.5Mbps core is not enforced, either.

I know that Italian Job lists DTS on the cover, but I can't find it in the menu.

Most of the movies on Blu-ray that are just DTS are 640Kbps. Same as the DD titles.

I don't believe DTS decoders support 640Kbps and there are no DTS DVD's, BD's, CD-ROM's or HD DVD's at that rate.

I've never heard of a DVD, let alone a BD with 640kbps DTS,

Why is there so much misinformation given with such authority on the forums?
