i am getting dish installed this week.

i am not planning to get locals from dish. i have an OTA antenna. also, this antenna receives ota digital signals (HD) very well, but the analog signals are grainy.

i am trying to decide which receiver vip722/vip222 would suit best based on the following (ignore the DVR capability of vip722 for the moment):

my TV1 is HD, TV2 is SD. TV1 is near the receiver (component/HDMI connection), TV2 is in a different room (thru' home distribution).

assume that the receivers are in dual (2 TV) mode (i want to watch two different channels in the two tvs).

if i am right, TV1 can always watch ota digital signals in HD with both vip722/vip222. however, can i watch ota channels in TV2 (since the channels are digital, the receiver will have to down convert to SD).

in case of vip722, atleast i could record the show, and then play it from TV2. can i do something like that in vip222 (not recording the show, but watching ota HD channels in SD).

thanks.

You can watch the downgraded HD programs on tv2. However, in my experience, the down graded OTA HD programming (which is embedded on your receiver) looks worse than the normal SD versions.
