Please help! I have been searching the web for 3 hours and I can't find a code that will work in my Comcast DVR 3-Device Universal Remote Control to turn on/off and control the volume of my Yamaha RX-V577 receiver.

This Comcast remote uses 4 digit codes and I have tried the 2 in the manual (0176 and 1176) which don't work. I have also tried others I found on the web.

Does anyone have any codes that I could try that may work. Please help! This is my last piece of my home theater setup and I have no more money to buy a new $75 - $150 remote!

Try this:
Set the setup code for AUX to 0176 (the remote should blink twice if accepted), then turn off your receiver, point the remote to the receiver and to the following:
1. Press and release SETUP button on the remote
2. Type 00248
When you press the last digit (8) the receiver should turn on. If it does, try repeating the steps above except type 00246 in step 2. If the receiver turns off, you have discrete power on and off on the receiver.

To permanently add these two commands do the following:
1. Press and release AUX
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Type 994
4. Press and release SETUP
5. Type 00248
6. Press and release POWER
The remote should blink twice and you should have power on function on the POWER button. You need to assign power off to another key. A good one might be shifted-POWER, accessed by pressing and releasing SETUP and then pressing POWER. To do that, follow the steps above with code 00246 in step 5 and then press and release SETUP between steps 5 and 6. Now power off should work by pressing and releasing SETUP and then pressing POWER.

The volume keys should be working by default, but you may have volume punch through turned on (meaning the remote is sending signals for TV or CABLE volume function no matter what mode you are actually on). To unlock volume control for AUX mode, do the following:
1. Press and release AUX
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Type 993
4. Press and release VOL-
The remote should blink four times to confirm unlock.

If you are missing other functions, there are codes for those to program in to the remote as well.
