I didnt want to start a new thread, but after hours and hours of reading I am still undecided. I have seen the Optoma HD80 and it looks good for the money, but havent seen the RS1x yet because there are no local dealers at all. I have seen the RS2 setup at a wholesale dealer and it definitely has the wow factor. I wanted to see the RS2 to give me an idea how the RS1x would look.

The pj will be installed in a basement without windows on a Dalite 116" screen that came with the house. It would be nice to have light in the rest of the basement for the poker table and etc without having a big effect the picture.

The JVC is obviously a superior pj, but is it worth the extra $2000?

Also, is it worth going with the RS1 over the HD1?

Thanks for your help.

IMHO, the RS1 is better in all ways than the HD80.

Is the RS1x worth the extra money over HD1? Besides being black and extra settings for fine tuning, are there any other added benefits over the HD1?

To me, no.

Others may find the extra gamma tweakability worthwhile.

I have had my Optoma HD80 for about a year. I really like it. I like the DLP picture and sharpness, and the ANSI contrast. No one has every said they see rainbows or have a headache, and I have shown movies to a lot of people with it. The JVC may be better, but you can own a very nice projector with the HD80, and have still $2000 in your pocket.
