Either using bootcamp or vmware, install and configure PowerStrip, http://www.entechtaiwan.net/util/ps.shtm

Then switch back into OSX and use those numbers to fill in for either DisplayConfigX or SwitchresX.

I've run into problems with OSXBMC and my JVC needs to get rid of the overscan problem but I could not get either of these to work before.

powerstrip wouldn't prevent you from having to do the trial and error, and there is no guarantee the numbers you get from power strip would work on the OS X utility (because of different video drivers).

Better to play around with the OS X utility and try to get numbers that work.
