View Full Version : A 12.0 Megapixel video cam for $75? Fresnel 07-01-08, 12:11 AM http://www.lightinthebox.com/12-0-MP-Digital-Video-Cameras-With-Mp3--DV-1288-_p1745.html The item appears to ship from China. What do you think? ChrisW6ATV 07-01-08, 01:38 AM I think "you get what you pay for". It does say 12 megapixel sensor, but it includes a "TV output cable". The video recording ability is probably like that of many digital cameras, 640x480 30 frames per second at best. Fresnel 07-01-08, 09:11 AM Yeah the 640x480 would suck a bit, but 30 frames I'm okay with. Lotta movies are shot in that or less. Do you think it's a good deal at $75? Or is there anything better at that price? I'd really only use it to shoot some video game footage for an online project to upload to Youtube and Gametrailers. elifino 07-01-08, 11:54 PM Fixed lens, no zoom at all. How close do you want to be? There's no expansion slot, and the description doesn't mention capacity of internal memory. At 12 MP, I imagine your recording time is severely limited. Why don't you just buy a Kodak point-n-shoot digital camera that will also do video? They cost about the same price. ChrisW6ATV 07-03-08, 12:42 AM As elifino said, I would look at the video abilities of known brand-name digital cameras if standard-def video is good enough for you, and you are trying to spend less than US$100. |
