You could record it on a TiVo HD (assuming your cableco doesn't flag it with CCI 0x02; mine doesn't, dunno about others), or you could use the Gefen component HD-DVR or the Hauppauge component HD capture card. Those are the only options I can think of for getting such footage into a PC in high-def, other than resorting to a Vista Media Center CableCARD box (but those are US$1500 and up).

Like said above, if your cable company doesn't have the CCI/5C flags set, then you can capture via firewire to your PC if your DVR has working firewire ports, see the sticky thread at the top of this forum.

Or you can get a Hauppauge HD-PVR($250), it records over the component outputs of the DVR so it would work.

No other way, via any other port, hard drive swap, etc etc. Sorry.

I can record NFL HD to my 'puter using CAPDVHS and my Moto 6200 box. No flags on this channel so I can copy away.

I have done it, with a Tivo Series 3 and the desktop software "Tivo2Go". Once on the pc, you can convert the .tivo file to an mpeg2, which I have already done. Now my problem, I am trying to archive (for historical purposes) some of the "key" games from last Jan-Feb, to Blu-Ray. I bought a LG Blu-ray burner, but I am having a hell of a time with any of the pathetic blu ray compatible burning software out there. Crashes, eternal encoding (even though you shouldn't have to re-encode), $10 coasters. So far I have 1/2 of the big game on one disc. And even though we are living in a digital world, the BD-R version looks great, but not quite as good as the native recording on my DVR...

I'm still working on it, but am amazed at the lack of information out there on the subject.
