I want to move all my video equipment to a rack in the utility room
And use a matrix switcher thing 2x4 or 4x4 to disribute to 4 TV's
What is the range of the RF remotes? Will all my equipment live and be controlled in the basement rack easily?

I am not exactly sure the lenth but my Harmony 890 with the RF extenders easily controls my components that are in a utility closet in the hall from anywhere inside the house/garage and from as far out in the yard as I have tried. I would say you will probably be fine unless you are trying to go through concrete somewhere in your basement.

I believe they say the range is 100 feet. However things like walls, microwaves, wireless networks, etc. can all reduce how far it works in real life just like any other RF device.
Harmony will not work very well for this. You will need a basesation for every remote for this to work. You need something like URC, RTI, etc to be able to control one location with multiple remotes. I have seen URC remotes get great range in some cases and mediocre in others, it just depends on the the location.
Thanks hoggy for saving me a mistake.
I thought I could get 3-4 harmony remotes to control one basestation / IR converty thing in the equipment rack.
I'll have to google URC and see what comes up
Thanks again,
Jason

I may be wrong, but I think the Harmony 890 Pro can use multiple remotes with a single base station, as well as one remote with multiple base stations. I think that is the whole point of the Pro and the different room variables. You probably would want to verify that with someone who uses the 890 Pro though, because I am not 100% sure.
