Edit: Oh yeah anyone else seen these knob style blue connectors
that Time Warner sends out with their self install kits? the nut is
encased in blue plastic forming a knob for easy install.. They seem
pretty neat.. I havent been able to find any on the net.. Yet.

I have good luck with bulk Radio Shack gold connectors, and high quality Belden RG-6 cable.

If you are going to do it right, you need a tool for cutting and a quality crimping tool. I got mine from a DirecTV install guy ... Actually he pointed me to where I could buy them locally. Cost about $50 for both years back.

The DTV guy said standard connectors are OK, just use the right tool. He gave me several cables he had made up, all standard bulk stuff, they still work fine to this day -- So he might be correct.

I don't know that there is such a thing as BEST compression connector. All of the ones from the major manufacturers have pretty much the same spec's. Really, it's more a matter of personal preference than anything else.

I love SuperLoks http://www.cencom94.com/gpage1.html because of the all-metal construction and you can feel the locking mechanism snap into place, as well as O-rings at both front and back. I love PCT fittings because of the reverse-bevel inside which helps prep the cable for insertion of the fitting. I love Digicon because of the plastic guide insert for the center conductor, and I love PPC because they are universal (1 fitting for standard, tri, and quad-shield cable).
