A different angle, show me your finished basements leading to your home theater! I am really interested in bars, and pool rooms.

I've seen your thread many times, but don't think I ever said "WOW, you did an amazing job". Talk about putting you in the mood for a movie before you even walk into the theater!!!! AWESOME JOB!!

Not too much to see in ours. Outside the theater room is a ~18'x15' room that will eventually be a playroom for our daughter. RIght now it just has a large tabel in it for playing board games with our friends.

Here you go. Media room just outside theater. Nine Foot tall Slim 5 rack houses all the Whole-house audio gear and media room gear (used to be full, but all digital media exiled the DVD players, CD players and other source equipment). Theater room has it's own dedicated Slim 5. Can see door knob on the left that leads to the theater. Seems a little redundant, but if hosting sporting event, we watch in the media room while the kids use the theater or vice versa.

Here's my lobby:

And here's the theater entry:

When we entertain, we spend more time in the lobby than in the theater. I really enjoy the transition between lobby and theater - it really sets the mood and makes the theater experience more "dramatic"!

Randy:

Yours was the first theater that I saw that really made me think "this is what I want in my house". That was over 4 years ago, and we're just over a year into the build. I hope mine turns out as nice as yours has.

Seeing yours gave me the desire. Seeing the others Biggy, StrangeBrew, ChinaDog, Bill M, BritinVA, CurtisG, among others) really put me over the top.

Congrats to all of the fine theaters I've stolen, ahem...I mean borrowed from.

CJ - that's gratifying to hear. Thanks!

I'm impressed with your build and can't wait to see how it develops - best of luck!

Still a work in progress... the theater door is on the left. I hope to get some velvet roping and line the hallway with velvet rope on gold poles. The poster will also get backlit sooner or later.

Amazing, can you show a closeup of the rack, or just a componet list? What are all the boxes at the top, with the red LEDs? Is that an EQ?

I took a few new pictures of the approach to our Theater. It's in the back corner of the basement. Sort of a virtual walk up.

Very nice Bill. Love the design queues (stars all about).

Looks almost as good as it does in person.

do you have a thread for this build out? I REALLY like this and Im more of a dedicated room kind of guy.

bmackrell

No unfortunately I don't have a dedicated build thread but I did document the build and will either recreate one or post it on a personal website at some point.

Originally, we wanted a dedicated theater but with size constraints and teenagers in the mix we opted for the open back end so we could "keep an eye on things" and make it more party friendly.

I've actually found that during events most of my friends hang out at the bar versus sitting in the theater seats. When they sit in the seats (Berklines) they tend to fall asleep.

BTW, most of what I learned leading up to and during my build was gleaned from this site and all the others contributing so thanks again!

BillMac
