Hello

I have a new Sony XBR4 52 with a HDMI Cable from my cable box.
Last night when I turned it on there was no audio.
Had the cable company flash my box, still nothing.
Checked the off air channels & I get sound, checked a DVD & a VCR & I get sound.
I'm hoping it's the cable box & not my HDMI Inputs.
Is it possible for the HDMI cable went bad or the HDMI audio on my set went south.

Thanks

Perhaps you need to go into your cable box's menus and have it output PCM audio instead of Dolby Digital? Some TVs don't have a DD decode path on their HDMI inputs, and so can only handle PCM audio (even if they have an ATSC receiver). Give it a try, that might solve your problem. Of course, if you get a surround receiver eventually, remember to change it back so you can get Dolby Digital surround. :)

Thanks

But, Nothing has changed on any Audio menu for the cable box.
We've have had sound since Jan.

Next suggestion would be to exchange the cable box for another one if you've confirmed nothing has changed in it's settings.

Problem solved -

I replace the cable box & a different HDMi cable.

Thanks again.
