Greetings, Im currently planning an upstairs media\game room. The dimensions are 15x15 but since this is a new house, the wife is not willing to co-operate with painting it so i can get rid of some of the light reflections coming through a couple of windows. I have a couple of questions that maybe some of you can help me with.

1) Room- is it possible to cover the room in dark material without painting it?
2) Windows - i'd love to cover those windows up but with what? Is there a dark tint out there that can block all sunlight without removing the windows?

I apologize but im kinda new to this and would like to see if you kind people can help me.

Thanks

1) - Many people use cloth on their walls. If your wife won't allow paint, I can't see her agreeing to furring strips and fabric frames.

2) Blackout blinds or build temp window plugs.

You could do dark curtains over the walls without too much building or fastening. If you were just interested in the color change and nothing audio related you could hang curtains on rods or just staple the fabric to the wall if you plan the job just right you can fold the fabric down over the staples and you'll never see them. The beauty of staples is that they leave really tiny holes so when you pull it down later it just takes the tiniest bit of filler (even some thick paint later would probably fill the holes.)

I also saw once on some home related TV show that if you use starch and fabric you can stick it to the walls for as long as you like but when you want to change it or take it down you just pull it off and clean the walls with a rag or sponge and some water. I don't know if this is the show I saw it one but here's instructions on how to do it. (http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/rm_walls_other/article/0,,HGTV_3805_1375532,00.html)

This sounds like a good idea. That's alot curtains though. Might have to find some pretty good expandable rods and some long curtains to cover 50ft of wall space.

Thanks

1) - Blackout blinds or build temp window plugs.

They also make a black out lining which can be added to the back of your curtains on the windows if you don't want to go the blind route. That allows you to open them up when you want light and close them off when viewing.
