When I start up Corel Guidemenu, the first two options are grayed out. They just won't work.

Unfortunately, I didn't install Corel. It's a company computer that I just got, that has the program on it. It *might* not have the activation code entered, but the person who worked with the computer tells me she thinks it was. Hopefully it's not that, cause the code would be a hassle to get.

In any case, it's a windows xp box. Is there a simple answer? Or is it something more strange?

You get those two options when the camera has been recognized. Plug in camera (usb), turn on, push the on toggle "wheel" all the way over to play position.
