View Full Version : My LG 32" (1080i) TV is flickering...

This is a very strange problem... I have a CableVision DVR box hooked up with HDMI to my TV. I just moved my TV from upstairs to downstairs, and put it onto a wall mount. I don't think that is any issue.

If I switch to channel 2, 4, or others... I can watch TV for hours, without a single problem. Comedy Central and others are no problem as well.

However, when I watch HBO or some other channels like it, the TV starts to flicker and eventually just turns off. I can turn it back on, tune to channel 2, 4 or Comedy Central and watch again for hours. This happens when I DVR a program off of HBO as well -- the TV flickers a few times here and there, and eventually just turns off.

Anyway, I am really curious to know what the heck is going on. Given that it's limited to HBO and other type of channels, I wonder if it has something to do with the HDMI HDCP (not sure?), but I am open for any ideas here.

Thank you for any ideas or insight.

Does it happen on all HD channels and not on any SD channels? What kind of DVR are you using? Have you tried connecting your DVR with component cables to see if the problem was still there? I had a similar problem in the past and I was able to determine that the problem was an HDMI handshake issue between my Onkyo AVR550 and my Cox Cable Motorola DVR.

I figured out it wasn't HDMI, it is the power supply... the techs will be here this week to fix it, hopefully.
