I inadvertantly wiped out my son's G5 desktop... including around 5000 songs in his itunes. His ipod

obviously now contains all these songs and if he connects to his now empty itunes all will be lost.
Mac said there is "un supported software available that will solve this problem.
Any suggestions as to which one is the best to solve this issue so I can at least have the songs bac?
Thanks

Do you mean you lost everything on the hard drive or only what was on the desktop? If you first want to try un-deleting, I have had very good luck with a program called Data Rescue. However, if you have written or deleted anything from the computer since the "accident", you may have problems.

To simply copy files from an iPod to a computer, you might try podUp (http://www.futility.co.uk/futsoft/podup.html).

Senuti is very easy to use:

Another good reason to download the free trial version of SuperDuper and clone your son's boot drive so next time everything is backed up. Time Machine is slower to restore from but it'll all be there as well.
