I know these speakers don't retail for 20K but I was looking for some feedback from people who have heard both and can compare them.

For music or ht or both?

haven't heard the 9s but can give impressions of 802d if that helps.

Why should it matter if it is music or hometheater?

802D have a sweat treble from their diamond tweaters. They also have a slight midrange suckout. The bass is tremendous but requires the right sized room. They are very captivating. Their is a matching center channel if you are looking for homee theater.
I however prefer the smoothness of the Aerials which only very slightly lack in the silky tweeter sound in comparison. The Aerials are slightly easier to position with regards to bass output. They also have a matching center channel.

More to the point of what is of interest to me than the issue of HT vs. Music application, what happened to that impression of the 802Ds? I have recently heard them, so was curious to the impression others had of them.....?
