I've finally got around to getting my room setup..

I painted last week, ceiling is "oswego grey" and the walls are "chocolate eclair"

I'm going to be building a larger screen. with bass traps on both sides of it. There rear channels will be in some "round" speaker cloth covered 1/4 columns. (atleast Im hoping for them to be round :confused: ) These "columns" will be placed into the rear corners - the bottom will taper off into a point (the fabric will be pleated) Ill be hanging them on small french cleats.



I'm lost as far as making these 1/4 columns actually ROUND. So far I cut two 1/4" peices of plywood, attatched 1x2's and made a "shelf". Clearly the curvature of the wood isnt going to carry thru the entire section of fabric - Would some fairly stiff mesh wire work?

Id just assume make the columns flat - but my gf insists on them being round.. :|

I'm wondering what the best solution to treating the room would be? I plan on getting new heavier blackout drapes from overstock. The ones that are up now have two black sheets hooked behind them. Im having difficulty locating rockwool or 703 boards. http://www.atsacoustics.com seems to be my option.. I still have a few places to check on.

Im on a budget here, I have about $200 left for the entire do over. Already have lumber, screen material, velvet, etc.

You can actually buy molded plywood in a variety of diameters. You can put on some veneers and stain to match those existing columns or just paint any color you want.

That is probably more $ than you want to spend so plan B is to get some round sonotube concrete forms, cover with laminate /paint/fabric.
