Is this the same as Vegas 8 Pro that is out now? I've noticed that the price is $129, so I'm betting on this being something different....

No, Its a different program, Vegas 9 will not be released till next year at the earliest, they are still working the the Vegas 8c upgrade due out sometime this summer, as well as the 64Bit version of 8....Vegas 9 is still a ways off....

I had a second look at it an you're right, it is. At it's core (without the effects and vegas extras), is this as good? Also, how does it compare with any future version that Adobe might put out in Setpember?

It will give you a side by side comparison to the current Studio Platinum and Vegas 8 pro ..looks like the new feature added to the upcoming Studio will be bluray support...

Will you still be able to upgrade to Vegas 8/9 if you purchase the Sony Vegas 9 Movie studio.

I have not done a lot of editing and I was wondering if the new vegas 9 movie products will be enough for me when they come out in august. I need to edit HD footage and would like to be able to create some DVD's.

I am assuming that the movie 9 products will close the gap between the what they are now and vegas 8.

Anyone have some good insight on the new release. I would be looking at the platinum pro pack for $129.

I could not tell from the press release whether Studio 9 Platinum Pro will be able to write AVCHD to DVD+/-R discs. Did anyone see anything to indicate that it will?

none of these look comparable to the power of vegas 8 pro. is the flagship product coming out later?
