Is there any reason as to why a Sub can't bee kept in a AV Cabinet?
In particular - the KEF 2005 sub, adn this cabinet http://www.standanddeliver.com/acatalog/Arca_200_oak.html
I would have it on the right hand side. Seems like theres plenty of room.
There's no back to the cabinet, so plenty of air.
I know the sound might be affected, but im not a huge audiophile!
I dont have it too loud either, so dont expect it to rattle the AV case and contents.
Opinions?

I don't think it's going to work very well -- the sub works by vibrating the air around it, and that's not going to happen enclosed in the cabinet. If you left the door open while the sub was in use, and the back is open by nature of the cabinet, it might work. I'd make sure you got a backup plan.

I was considering possibly placing it on its side so that the driver faces the wall. Probably a better sound than it acing downward into the cabinet.
I guess I'll have to experiment, find other ways to hide it from the GF!
Maybe make a hole in the bottom of the cabinet, so its actually sitting on the floor.

Ok, backup plan - hiding the sub under the table thats near the couch, and getting a much longer coax cable for the sub!

Good to hear, hidden subs make a girl happy. Ultimately, there are many reasons a sub shouldn't be placed in a cabinet, but none of them amount to anything if your situation is working out for you.

Might try putting a subdude or gramma pad in the cabinet for the sub to sit on otherwise the cabinet and its content are prone to rattles and movement, depending on your sub.
If it is front firing and you have the door open then it is not a problem. The sub pictured has an 18" driver.

I gave up on the idea and have bought a 8m cable so that I can place the sub under a table the other side of the room.
Its a downward firing sub btw.
