anyone download the free map and dashboard skin today? is the map any fun?
i'm at work so i won't be able to try until tonight.

fyi, legendary map pack is supposed to be cheaper now too.

Yes, it is for Halo 3. It's Cold Storage. The Legendary map pack is now 600 points.

On a side note...anyone experience problems w/ Halo 3 online this wknd? I had a bunch of glitching and frozen matches.

ANyone hear when the legendary map pack will be free? I have three 360's and hate buying 3 copies of map packs.

Okay, downloaded fairly quickly. It apparently is a remake of a Halo 1 map and pretty good one. I'm not good with names so I couldn't tell you which one. But I can only forge, it won't let me use it as a custom map.

Its a remake of "Chill Out". You ma remember it from the blue walls and lots of fog on the floor, cool map:)

They have a video walkthrough of the map on Live also.

not sure why they don't just make faithfull enhancements of ALL the Halo, Halo2 levels. That would be MONEY for sure. "inspired by" creations just haven't cut it.

I'd buy every one of them. My friends and I have said this exact same thing. Great Halo 2 maps with the new weapons and features. If someone really wanted to milk DLC, that would be the way. I'm sure production costs have a lot to do with that very thing not happening.

Probably not production but more so much beta testing that has to be done to minimize people glitching their way into an advantageous spot or out of the map. The few matches I have played were pretty good.

i liked the map but got freakin' "Braaains" five times in a row last night and people wouldn't veto. i had to leave.
heard that the mythic map pack was scheduled for august/september. legendary would then be free.

Is this map still available on the market place? I successfully found the gamer pics & theme but I had no luck finding the map whatsoever.

Team swat is actually really fun. This map is great for that close quarters chaos or tactical team battles.

I heard it was a one day only thing with the gamerpics. I wonder if you can do the send to a friend thing with the one day only stuff?

This one day only stuff is lame. It makes you SOL if you are out of town on that one day. (sigh)

Here's a suggestion so you only have to pay for two downloads:

Given I own 2 360's this is what I do:

1) Signon to my partners 360 using "my" gamertag (stored on a memory stick)
2) Purchase and download the content onto her machine.
3) Signout and then sign in to my 360 and redownload the content.

My partner can then sign in on her machine using her gamertag and has access to the maps (online or off)
I can signon to my machine, and use the maps as well, (but I have to be online)

Looks like its going to be available until an undisclosed date. I asked yesterday if anyone else could find it because on the 7th; I could not locate it anywhere on the marketplace. yesterday when I signed into the xbox there were ads galore pointing me in the right direction. On the downside it seems the gamerpics & themes were for 1 day only.

It is an almost near replica of the Halo 1 map Chill Out. Graphically it is a great looking map and is fun with small groups.

I wouldn't want all of the old maps in Halo 3, but I do think Headlong, Blood Gulch/Coagulation, Relic, Turf, Damnation and Ivory Tower would be nice. Maybe a few more. :D

Cold Storage will be available for free beginning on July 7, Bungie Day, on Xbox Live Marketplace.

For now, Cold Storage will be implemented in regular rotation in playlists that require the Legendary Maps. To avoid confusion, playlists that previously required the Legendary Maps will now remind players that they need “all Maps” to participate, and since Cold Storage is free, it shouldn’t be a big deal for you to grab the map on July 7 and then return to your regularly scheduled business in SWAT.

Additionally, on 7/7, Microsoft is dropping the price of the Legendary Map Pack from 800 spacebucks to 600 spacebucks. That price drop does mean that purchases after 7/7 will no longer include the Bungie Pro bonus.

Cold Storage will always be free. I've never heard Bungie say the Legendary mappack will ever be free, but it's a possibilty once another mappack comes out.

Halo CE maps would be priority. If they could remake Chiron, that would be awesome.
For Halo 2, my friends and I just sign on to Halo 2 live. There's a surprising number of people still on that. We do sometimes get confused with the different controller configurations, though.

Oh yeah, there are still a good number of people playing Halo 2, but I would like to see the maps in Halo 3. I think Halo 3 plays a lot better than Halo 2 (not that Halo 2 isn't great) and it would be sweet to see the upgrades/changes Bungie would make.

I actually played some Halo 2 recently and it is still fun. Halo 3 is just better, IMO. :)
