I just picked up a Paradigm DSP-3200. I can't for the life of me figure out whether i should leave it plugged into the wall outlet and forget it. or unplug it everytime i'm done using it. Every sub i've ever owned has had a switch on the back...(i.e off or auto) this one doesn't have anything and the manual doesn't tell you either. Is the switch built in?
Any thoughts.

Here is your answer PSBMAN.
I have a DSP-3400 and it's amp is in the same config. as yours. This is a completely automated sub amp. This is according to the Paradigm tech support guy.
When your sub gets a signal it turns on and you get the blue light below. If you get a strong enough signal the amp fires of course. It stays on as long as your receiver is on and you should be getting a constant signal. When you turn off your receiver, the system goes on standby even with the blue light on. Then after about 30 minutes with the receiver OFF, the blue standby light goes off.
Even if the blue light is on, this doesn't mean the amp is on necessarily. There is nothing wrong with this system. I got used to it and I even like it better than the on/off switch. The power dial in the back is your actual on off switch. Turn the dial all the way to off and the amp will not go on. The blue light may be on on standby mode but the amp is not working. I turn it to the center position with the obvious middle indent stop. I never ventured to past the middle on my 3400 since it will kill the whole place to bits. On some movies when I crank it, I cannot even reach the middle 12 o'clock indent position. Too much power. I leave it at 10 o'clock.
Hope this is clear.
I have this dsp-3200 hooked up to my RX-V1800 with the crossover set at 80. on the back of the sub....the middle knob goes from 35 to 150. what should i turn that knob to.

150
You esentially want the sub crossover out of the equation so theV1800 can do the work.

Exactly, and that's how I have mine set up. Works like a million. Unfortunately my receiver goes no lower than 80hz on the crossover setting. I want to eventually get a newer receiver, one with the HD lossless decoding chip, and cross the sub over to 60hz.
Wouldn't a higher x-over setting like 100 on the receiver mean more bass to the sub?

"Wouldn't a higher x-over setting like 100 on the receiver mean more bass to the sub?"
It means higher frequency bass to the sub, but it also means you will likely be able to tell where the sub is located in the room. Only cross over at 100 if your main speakers can't play down to 80hz, which would be hard to believe. Only cross over at 60Hz if your main speakers can handle it and you have enough amplification to do so. 80Hz is recommended for a good reason.

How do you like your 3200 after a year or so of ownership? This is the sub I am considering. I have a pair of v4 Studio 40s and CC 590 in the front and a pair of Atoms in the rear. My dealer recommended this and the Ultracube 12 as candidates for a sub that would peform well with both music and HT. Any feedback would be appreciated.

FYI
I have my SC-07 crossover set at 100hz and my sub is a Servo-15. I do not get localization with this setup.
