i have been told that in service mode blacks and better calibration can be done to better the image anyone know anything about this

You can't improve the blacks in the service menu. They are what they are.

A professional calibrator would use the service menu to get your display as close to perfect as possible with regards to color, contrast, gamma, brightness, etc.

But it's not something you want to go messing around with on your own, unless you know what you're doing.

True enough.

However, even with calibration the blacks will not be better.
