View Full Version : SW – power-off or standby?

I have an SVS 25-31PCi sub. I leave this constantly powered on, which after a period of inactivity, will then put itself in standby mode (and then turn on when it detects a signal). Is there any danger of leaving this permanently switched on?

Incidentally, I do the same with my avr & PS3, leaving them in standby mode when not in use. Does anyone know of any problems if this is done long term?

Many people leave their subs set to always on instead of auto. There is nothing wrong with that. I read somewhere on here that they basically use the same amount of power idle. As for the stand by mode on your avr and ps3 I'm not sure what you mean.

Thanks for your response. Sounds like I am fine leaving the sub on Auto then.

With regards to the PS3 and AVR, I just wondered if leaving them on standby when not in use could damage them long term (i.e. should I completely turn them off or are they ok to sit in standby when not in use). I have done a few searches and it doesn’t seem to be an issue, more of a personal preference. But as I say, just wanted to make sure I wasn’t damaging any of the components by never completely turning them off.

Leaving them in standby does no harm.:D My avr has always been put in standby mode when its not in use and it still works after many years. I also leave my ps3 in standby mode.
