I don't know if this is a smart move. I currently have Sony 46XBR4 but something about it that I don't really like -- I am not sure what it is. Maybe the black level is not quite black enough for me and the colors seem too "vibrant". I would prefer things a bit subdued.
I've been looking at the Panasonic PZ800 and it comes really close to the Pioneer Kuro model but a lot cheaper. The black level is more natural whereas the Sony is a little bit artificial (sometimes a bit blueish).

What do you guys think? Is it a good move or it's a case of "the grass greener on the other side"?

Everybody here will tell you to get the panny. Including myself.

Just by coincidence I have a friend who recently got an XBR4...it's not bad by any means (for an lcd) but no matter what we do (Avia II, DVE) we still can't get it to look as good as my Panny plasma....and I have last years low end 1080p model.;)

Actually I wouldn't trade a XBR4 for a older Panny model since I've compared them side by side and still prefer the XBR4, but the newer Panny looks really good -- almost if not as good as the Pioneer Kuro. I think the only two models I would trade with the XBR4 are either the Kuro or PZ800. Other than that, there are not too many good ones out there. The newer Samsung models are nice especially the deep black level but I think I would ultimate go with the XBR4/5.
