Hi everyone, I read this forum pretty much everyday but don't post much as you can see. I have a question about Polk subs. Bought a PSW 303 about 3 months ago on Fleabay for $150.00, however after reading this forum it seems like there are better choices for less money. I have a chance to pick up a BIC H-100 for $200.00 (new). Would I notice much of a difference? Here in Canada the Polk is selling for $600.00 at FS although it is on sale a lot of the time for a lot less. So why would a $250.00 sub sound better than a $600.00 sub? Seems like their specs are similar except for the size. Am I happy with the Polk, I guess so, but this is the first sub I"ve purchased so I couldn't really tell you if I would be happier with the BIC or not, if it sounds noticeably better for the $200.00 I would go for it. Thoughts?

In case anyone asks, its a small L shaped room, 18 X 12 ( top of L ) and 10 X 10 ( bottom of L), have a HK 147, Polk Monitor 40's for fronts, Monitor 30's for rears with a CS1 center.

It doesn't matter how much the Polk 303 sells for in Canada. In the USA you can get the Polk 303 for $156 from Amazon. Regardless of price the 12 inch BIC H-100 will go deeper and play louder than the 8 inch 100 watt Polk 303. I would get the BIC H-100 while you can get it for $200 brand new.

I don't know about the particular sub you have, but I have owned dual Polk 350's and a 450 (still have that one). What I have found is that they can produce quite a bit of "thump", but not necessarily accurate bass.

In comparison, I have both a Velodyne and SVS. Both do a better job at tight, deep bass.
