Its a Boston Acoustics PV 350 that i bought just 2 plus weeks ago.

Im not sure if i turned up the bass too high?? Although i doubt i did this and spoilt the drivers but one never knows.

I went to inspect the inside, the papper cone and everything seems intact and not like burnt or anything???

When i press the cone down in the middle no funny sounds also...and the foam seems alright....after all its only 2 weeks old.

If i turn it off for awhile and on it again, then it will be alright for awhile, then the crackling paperlike sounds will return.

My sub is connected to a surge protector...

What am i supposed to do??

Is it spoilt already within the span of a month??

Do i have to take it all the way to woodlands for repair already!!??

Maybe there is some shop i can bring to for free to see what is the problem??

I bought from Audio culture at Adelphi...

please Help. D

50 watt / 8" sub????

I can almost assure you unless you are in a very very small bedroom and/or use only low to mildly moderate volume that you are demanding to much from this sub.

It would be very easy to reach the limits of a 50 watt subwoofer. I was in disbelief that Boston Acoustics would produce such a low-powered unit, I thought perhaps you mistyped and meant 500 watts.

Typical home theatre subwoofers discussed here at in the 250-1250 watt range. I have never seen one less than 100 watts RMS, and very few less than 150-200 watts.

Room dimensions in all three axis please?
Is it open to other areas?

Sub performance and room volume are extremely related.
