Does anyone know a way to get into the
CES show if you are not a business
owner? Any secret tips on how to get
a ticket(s)?

1. Get a ticket from a dealer/exhibitor with whom you have an established relationship.
2. Lie.

Lots of people just make up company names when they register.

They try to keep out non-CE-industry folks by requiring a business card, so you may need to get some made up. They're nice to have at the show anyway so you can drop them off and get on some mailing lists.

Basically all you need is a bit of an imagination, and access to a Kinko's.

Hey,
thanks guys. I am all registered. I do actually have a
real company name but it is not in the actual
electronics industry. I have some printable business
card paper here at work and a proggy to make
my own business cards. So I am in like flynn. (flint)
See you guys there.

Crap, they are regestering already? Need to register and get one of the cheaper hotel rates. I watied last minute last year and paid for it.

All the tips above worked for me. This will be my third CES. Well worth your time. I hope you don't mind large crowds.

If you want to get in without lying, then start a blog and register as a blogger. The show was thick with them last year and they were arguably treated better than the real press (flame suit on!).

Actually, the phrase in like Flynn (referring to Errol Flynn) preceded the movie title "In Like Flint".

To expand on this...
Last year's bloggers were treated very much like the press (I wouldn't say better but pretty close to the same).

Both the press and bloggers seem to get considerably more "perks" than a typical attendee from a no-name company.

Among other things, 2008 bloggers got access to many press-only events, got access to a special "blogger lounge" with computers and some refreshments, got lots of complimentary food and drink, got special access to hard-to-get-in events such as Bill Gate's speech, etc.

Not sure what they'll do next year, though, but if you are a blogger that seems to me to be a better way to register.

Thanks for all the tips. I am now registered and
have a few more questions:
1. I have my 15 year old son registered as an employee
is there a problem with him getting in? Unless he is 16?
2. Where is the first places I should check out. I really want to get
some cool blu ray demo discs. What booths have them or do they
give you a packet at check in?
3. I have scheduled 2 days for the show, is this enough time to see
most stuff?
4. Is their a good detailed walk through guide on the interent somewhere?

Thanks All and I am looking forward to going.
