2 quick questions...

Someone locally has a Velodyne VA-907 for $180. Good deal? I'm more concerned with tight bass for music that HT.

2nd question... this thing has an 8 inch woofer and a 10 inch passive radiator. What the hell is a passive radiator? If its passive it means unpowered, correct? If so, what good is it?

Thanks!
Paul

I could take the time to write a new post, but mark seaton has already done a pretty good job on another thread

basically a passive radiator works like a port, you add mass to it in order to tune it to a frequency. This mass is just like the mass of air in a port, (length) and the area of the PR is like the area of the port. Its a pretty sweet solution as it allows you to tune a powerful driver deeply in an enclosure that normally wouldn't be able to be ported due to the necessary port size/length required.
