If anything it is the HEAT from keeping your crotch covered up. Typical gamer position keeps the genitals confinded and possibly overheated (more from hands covering them and legspropped up, not heat from the controller itself). Increased temp has been linked to increased testicular cancer rate.

But really, testicular cancer is a disease with a peak in young men. Who are also gamers. True, true, and unrelated if you ask me.

I would be extremely surprised if the controller output anything more than about 70mw of power. In fact, I could bring one to work and check it out on a spectrum analyzer. That would be interesting.

Anything above the visible light spectrum will not be harmful (400nm and up) meaning microwaves, radiowaves, infrared, and up to the color Blue will not be harmful (can't penetrate skin). Below 400nm is where you get your UV rays, X-rays, gamma, and cosmic. Might wanna stay away from the latter 3.

As other have mentioned, heat raises the risk for cancer. Thus sitting on the couch all day, with limited motion will be the risk factor (Cyclists for example have a high risk because of the tight fitting bike pants, and continuous friction between the legs causing heat).

This is the craziest thread Ive read in awhile. While cancer of any kind is no joking matter, I dont think anyone has to worry about their controller causing it unless they live their lives with the controller taped to their potato sack.

I don't have to worry about my junk being confined since I usually game with no pants, but I've gotten too used to using myself as a monopod for my controller....don't know if I can use the above advice after all these years of a supported controller.

haha...funny someone actually brings this topic up...im actually worried about it...id like to count up the number of times ive heard scientists or anyone really say that it wont cause sack caner...they could be right but i never believe what anyone says...reminds me of when people thought the earth was flat...haha...in reality they can NEVER know for sure...well not for at least 10 years id say...i know ill be the first to get sack cancer if this is actually true...should be fun!

The latest research shows teenagers have a 520% increase in brain cancer likelihood if they begin using cellphones before 20 years old. A friend of mine volunteers at a Palliative or End-of-Life Care hospice. A large percentage of the dying are young people from brain cancer. A doctor at the facility says it's because of cellphone use. There's no question about this anymore.

Regarding wireless controllers causing cancer, true, they are lower powered than a cellphone. But the research also indicts low powered cordless phones. And it's also a matter of length of exposure. Sometimes I play Rock Band for 90 minutes straight, with the guitar controller pressed flat against my stomach. That's way longer than I would ever spend on a phone. And the stomach/crotch doesn't have the thick shield of skull bone the brain does.

Personally, I believe the day will come when we will say what were we thinking?

I agree its fiction. There has been no link found yet in regards to radio waves and cancer. Of course that doesn't mean they wont. I am writing this on a laptop using a wireless connection and my cell phone is in my pocket.

Hopefully there isn't a link. Otherwise I am going to be screwed.

Cooking a hamburger on a grill has more carcinogens than your wireless controller or the powerlines that run above our heads. Going outside in the sun has more possibilies of causing cancer too.

Someone I know believes bluetooth causes cancer so I guess 360 users are safe. Sorry PS3 and Wii users. The guy who says this won't let his wife get a bluetooth hands free device. They don't play video games. I don't buy any of this personally. Bluetooth is just a wireless protocol and I believe it's safe.

It's amazing this doctor your friend knows has somehow discovered what millions of dollars in research grants and studies have not been able to prove. Amazing! Definitely no question about it anymore and I have thrown all my wireless devices in the garbage and have wrapped myself in two rolls of foil.

I think I will withhold judgement....no offense to your unnamed friend or unnamed facility or unnamed doctor or unnamed possibly-but-probably-not published study.

I have had my crotch mutate since using the wireless 360 controller.

I now have two members: the original one and a larger cream and green one that features a flashing circular light on the top and rumblerama.

Its a bit off putting in the dark but the missus thinks its true next generation gaming.

I had some copper cage lined skivvies made up a few years ago to keep the boys safe. Not only that, it prevents the government from reading my crotch's thoughts. :eek:

I don't feel the need for any further protection. I have been married for 11 years, thus my crotch hasn't been used for the last nine anyways.
