I've got a Mitsubishi WD2000u DLP from about two years ago and all of a sudden the bulb won't strike. I turn it on, hear a soft clicking noise and the fan whirs up, but no light ever comes out. The fan stops, and a few seconds later starts up again.

Is this a dead bulb or something? I'm gonna call them tomorrow (3-year warranty doesn't cover the bulb of course) but I thought maybe someone would have an idea.

More often than not,that is the problem. I have a WD2000 as well. I will probably be needing another bulb in the not too distant future as well. Good luck.

Damn, there aren't more than a thousand hours on this pj. The bulb is rated for 4000 hours in low mode (how I run it).

Lamp ratings unfortunately are an average life in a "perfect" controlled test environment. More often than not they don't last the full length.
