THought I would start a parallel thread to the Air Remote for those using this App.

I'm using it to control a couple of iTunes - One on my MacAir and the other on my MacPro. Both of which point to the same media files commonly stored on a Capsule. Works great - very cool;

I'm having trouble though getting the AppleTV to work; I'm not seeing it listed on the iPhone remote.. On the ATV setup it says to first download the App, but I don't see where to do that on ATV (unless they are referring simply to the iPhone download - already done). Anybody done this yet?

Also, I see the AppleTV as a 'speaker' selection option when connected to the AirBook iTunes but not the MacPro iTunes (which connects to the ATV via Ethernet hardwire).

Do you have the latest version of the ATV firmware? There was an update a couple of days ago to enable the iPhone/iTouch Remote app.

i just got setup with Remote on my iTouch. WOW! I was previously amazed that I could have my entire music library on my MacBook to play via Airport Express in my system. Now the iTouch has taken this to a new level. Sitting in the dark, the laptop screen still glares even at the lowest setting. The iTouch is smaller and can be even dimmer so it's not a problem. Furthermore, every song in my library has for its artwork, a black pixel. It takes up no space and my iTouch display is literally black except for the controls. Thank you Apple.

yep - that was my first thought as well but I did the download the other day; Now running 2.1 the latest... I tried connecting ATV to my network via wireless; Didn't make a difference - back on wired connection now.

Anybody controlling the ATV successfully?

I have been successful in getting this to work...

You need to go to the settings menu on the aTV and into Remote on the iPod touch at the same time. The touch will give you a passcode, which you'll need to enter into the aTV. Then you should be good to go.

got it - thanks bflsch...
Interestingly - I can now control the iTUnes on my MacAir, the iTunes on my MacPro (both of which use the same media files on the Capsule); and I can now control the ATV, but only the media files residing on the ATV, not the Shared Library to which the ATV loads from the Capsule (via iTunes on the MacPro)....

Can anyone play any ATV files other than those on the ATV itself?

Hadn't tried, but just gave it a shot. There doesn't seem to be any way to tell the aTV to look at shared libraries.

Hopefully in Remote 1.1...

Still, a pretty useful app, and one that has convinced me to buy another aTV to run headless, serving audio to my secondary system.

It works for me, but it looks like it won't let you show pictures, just music/movies/podcasts. But it's a great start.

teague- are you sure? I can set the ATV to a shared library that's not stored on the ATV itself; But the Remote only allows control of the media files actually contained on the ATV itself per synced copied files; This can be a lot of course and for music not a problem for most - but for a library that must be Shared due to it's size (mine is on a 1 TB Capsule), the ATV disk is far too small...

The only way this "works" for me is if I first control the Itunes library that the ATV is sharing and deselect the "computer" speakers. I don't sync any data to my ATV (since I can't have both a shared library and local data, but that's another issue), so this is flawed for me. I'd buy 6-8 more ATVs if I could stream "seperate" feeds to each of them from one shared Itunes library.
