View Full Version : PSP question Stryker412 07-14-08, 08:53 PM I'm thinking of getting a PSP since I have some gift cards to kill. What memory should I get with it? Martez 07-14-08, 09:02 PM Most you can afford. Stryker412 07-14-08, 09:03 PM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820171352 ? Degenerazn 07-14-08, 09:14 PM I think if you're lucky you can get an 8 giger for about 50-60 bux KingShorty 07-14-08, 09:20 PM 4gb is actually a decent amount to get... you'll load it up with movies and music and not much else. Stryker412 07-14-08, 09:20 PM Well that 8GB one I linked to has great speed according to the reviews. This is the other one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820171311 alczervik 07-14-08, 11:34 PM i got a 16gb from amazon.com for ~150, might be overkill for some but it is my only portable movie device so i got it sorry link wont work, just search for pro duo its a little way down Stryker412 07-15-08, 08:12 AM Actually the 8GB at Amazon is a good price. http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-8GB-Ultra-Memory-Stick/dp/B000W8W86Y******pd_bbs_sr_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1216123740&sr=8-4 bryansj 07-15-08, 08:31 AM If you aren't going to put custom firmware on it you probably could get by with a 4GB. I have two 4GB where one is used for games and the other for movies. DarrellG 07-15-08, 09:05 AM I'd suggest an 8 GB. You'll be surprised how quickly you can fill it up. Especially if you have some homebrew apps. They're going for about $43 on ebay. bryansj 07-15-08, 09:43 AM Don't buy memory sticks on eBay. Most of them are fakes and will cause incompatibility issues. Brown Radagast 07-15-08, 03:36 PM "Don't buy memory sticks on eBay. Most of them are fakes and will cause incompatibility issues." X 2 I got a flimsily made one on eBay. I had to tape it together after 4 months or so because the casing was coming apart. It finally died after a year. I've now got one of those 8 gb sticks. I can notice the faster access and download times. Stryker412 07-15-08, 04:14 PM I ordered the 8GB San Disk. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31m1II93qcL._SL500_AA280_.jpg Stryker412 07-17-08, 01:34 PM Can anyone recommend some good games? I will be picking up Secret Agent Clank for my wife. I like shooters but I don't see myself playing them on the PSP since there's no second analog stick. bryansj 07-17-08, 01:38 PM From what I read Secret Agent Clank wasn't very good, you might want to get the Ratchet and Clank PSP game instead. To answer your question all you need to get started is God of War. number1laing 07-17-08, 01:50 PM Can anyone recommend some good games? I will be picking up Secret Agent Clank for my wife. I like shooters but I don't see myself playing them on the PSP since there's no second analog stick. Either of the Syphon Filter games are a must. Beyond that, what other genres do you like? instantpop 07-17-08, 01:54 PM Syphon Filters are good. God Of War Liberty City Stories was cool. LocoRoco Daxter (one of the best titles, still) Lumines There's a lot of good software available for the PSP. Stryker412 07-18-08, 04:08 AM So far I only picked up Ratchet & Clank Size Matters. I'll read reviews of Madden when that comes out. What's a good case? Martez 07-18-08, 04:20 AM Either Wipeout game. Disgaea if you are into strategy RPGs. Also, the launch title Ridge Racer is great arcadey fun and can be picked up for super-cheap. KingShorty 07-18-08, 04:21 AM I just downloaded Patapon and Loco Roco onto my PSP. DaverJ 07-18-08, 08:39 AM Space Invaders Extreme. Seriously... a whole bunch of awesome in that game. TornadoTJ 07-18-08, 10:41 AM So far I only picked up Ratchet & Clank Size Matters. What's a good case? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51r6osyfG3L._SS260_.jpg It's nice and compact, protects well, has slots for memory cards and UMDs, and is only $15. Link? number1laing 07-18-08, 11:02 AM That's the one I have, I got it from Best Buy for $14.99. It works well. TXBDan 07-18-08, 11:18 AM ha, i have that same case, too. works great except that it doesnt hold the power cord/charger. but then itd be too big and bulky really. Best Buy $15 as well. TornadoTJ 07-18-08, 03:42 PM I got mine at Target for $15. can't send link, the admins here block them. Just type in psp case in the search engine of target or BB and you'll find it quickly. maximuslcd 07-18-08, 08:06 PM I bought one a month ago at B that is just awesome, it has 3 seperate compartments and I love it, yet its compact enought to carry around..like a mini suitcase..ck it out before you buy one KingShorty 07-18-08, 08:21 PM Same, I have many cases for the PSP. I kept my soft case that came with the Phat PSP because the slim did not come with one. I have the case that is featured in the pic. I also have a hard see through case. I also have a nice grip case, kind of like a condom for the PSP slim that gives you access to all the right areas (the sounds so wrong). bryansj 07-18-08, 09:33 PM I have the same case that is pictured. It works great. Be carefully if you buy a hard case because there is still a lot of stock out there that is for the Phat PSP. The headphone jacks are in different spots and it just won't fit right. They also are only called PSP Case since there weren't two different ones when they were manufactured. |
