Hi

I currently own a Panasonic AE1000, and have been fairly satisfied with the performance of this unit. The image has however started flickering (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=980737), and it seems that people have a hard time finding out what causes it and finding a solution. Personally, I am tired of dealing with the problem (have had the problem for 200 hours appr.), and have a hard time truly enjoying movies on my projector due to the problem. So I am considering buying a new projector.

I've considered an AE2000, but as far as I'm concerned the same problem is potential on that model too.

Then there is the Mitsubishi HC6000, which is a bit too expensive over here in Europe. But it's nontheless a candidate.

My favorite contender is the Sanyo z2000. It's really cheap, but is it a step forward or back, performance-wise, compared to my current AE1000?

Hope you can help me decide. :)

I have no direct experience with the current Sanyo...Check projectorreviews.com for some direct comparisons between the current crop of 1080p LCDs. Many like the current Epson. I've heard rumblings of q/c issues...you should be able to find some threads. I have to imagine if you buy from a reputable dealer that shouldn't be a problem.

I'm having the same problem and the AE1000. I plugged all my cords into one battery backup system and now only have the problem when I watch Tivo. I used to get it watching movies, too.

I'm still trying to isolate the problem, which I think a new lamp might fix or conditioning the cable line. I'll let you know if the latter works.

I'm looking at buying the new Samsung 800 from Korea. It costs about half there as the US. It's also cheaper in Europe, oddly enough.

From some sources but not others?

Ok I am stumped. Aside from the known lamp instability, there are issues that can crop up with the iris for sure. Both of those issues should effect all sources.
