Im not sure if this is correct forum but here it goes...

Have a Mitsubishi 1080p TV with HDMI input only NO VGA/DVI. This is actually for a client of mine so I dont have the model. I only know that its a HDMI and 1080p Mitsubishi model.

I have a VGA Laptop (no sound) and a DVI Desktop (w/Sound) that I need to connect via 1 HDMI cable.

I assume I may need a Scaler to make it look good. I want to be able to take any PC resolution between 800x600 up to 1920x1200 and display it on a 1080p TV.

I was looking at this startech unit but im not sure if the picture will scale good enough to look as if the tv had its own VGA/DVI input without being too blurry.

Just remember I MUST have stereo audio coming from pc to the TV THROUGH the HDMI cable. And they dont want to spend a fortune.

If anyone has any better ideas please let me know.

Thanks
Tim

Well first off, VGA is analog. That cannot simply be converted to HDMI (which is digital). There are some video processors that will do that, but few use VGA inputs anymore. For the desktop with DVI...do you know if it is capable of digital and analog? I would assume it is, but we need to make sure. Separately, the TV "may" have a separate audio input tied to the HDMI input...double check that as well.

As an aside, you should ideally output the native resolution (1920x1080 in this case) to the display from the computer if possible.

Check out these products:
VGA to HDMI:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10114&cs_id=1011404&p_id=4629&seq=1&format=2
If you need to combine the DVI with audio and send this to the HDMI input then use this:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10114&cs_id=1011405&p_id=4630&seq=1&format=2
Otherwise just use a DVI to HDMI cable or adapter:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10231&cs_id=1023102&p_id=2218&seq=1&format=2
Now take the two HDMI outputs from the above and use a switch like this one:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&p_id=3047&seq=1&format=2
You can put together a solution for around $100 or less.
