Hello all,

I have a question - What is the best HDTV tuner card (preferably USB) that will allow me to tune to local off the air HDTV stations and then allow outputting via Firewire to my D-VHS VCR (JVC HM-DH30000) so I can record the HD broadcast in native format...I can then use CapDVHS to transfer the native MPEG 2 TS stream and archive it if necessary to disc.

I would like to point out - I know the DVICO Fusion card says it allows D-VHS recording via (optional) Firewire card, but I cannot find any documentation that shows how??? How does the USB device allow output via the Firewire port on my computer? That is the part not clearly documented anywhere and I am confused and want to hear from someone who has done it themselves and how easy/difficult it was...

Also, Is there a Dish Network reciever (I have Dish as my satellite provider) that will output firewire for D-VHS recording??? When I bought my D-VHS years back there was an availability of recievers with Firewire, but I see it dwindling and I want to get the right device to do that...Will a computer card help in this area as well?

Thanks in advance.

Rajiv

I use D-VHS with my computer and with cable box. I don't think you can stream live usb from the tuner to firewire out to the D-VHS, you would have to record the data to your computer then use capdvhs or dvhs-tool to play it back in real time to the D-VHS recorder. The only box I know that will record live from OTA to the D-VHS is the Samsung Sir-T165 tuner, they show up on Ebay sometimes for $100-200, I have one and it works fine with the JVC D-VHS and it also acts as an mpeg decoder for my Mits 2000 D-VHS player which has only firewire out.

I don't think there are any satellite receivers with firewire out from anybody.
