I have had the Samsung HP-T5054 for a while now (5 months) and on the right 1/4 of the the screen the pixels are lighter than the rest of the screen. It is not uniform in shape and it stretches inward toward the center further on the bottom and top (Almost like a backward C with a sqare back).
It is not IR - Scrolling does not fix it, it is only happening on one side of the screen, and it does not match up to the fixed images that sometimes get displayed on the screen (menus, 4:3 sidebars, etc.) for short periods. Also, I rarely watch 4:3 content un-stretched, I use subdued non-vivid picture settings, and I run the scrolling screen on a regular basis for long stretches. The panel is well past the break-in stage as well. I do get noticeable temporary IR, but that goes away fairly quickly.
It seems to me that that side of the screen either has some bad pixels or light is bleeding out from behind or something. Could the pixels be aging differentially on just that side? Anyway...the result is that dark scenes in movies are noticeably grayer/lighter on the right of the screen. The best way I can describe it is that he screen is non-uniform in terms of displaying black. This is true for all sources (tivo hd, blu-ray, dvd, etc.).
Anyone know what might be causing this? Is this worthy of a warranty call to Samsung?
