Hello!

I'm considering buying an american receiver for use in europe. We have 230V/50Hz mains. I believe NA use 110V/60Hz? A 1000W transformer is not very expensive, but then the voltage would still be 50Hz, not 60. Would a receiver tolerate this? I will not be drawing much power from this unit, it will drive my surround rears and maybe a set of small speakers in an adjacent room.

This approach would save me about $1000, so if it's doable and at an acceptable level I'm inclined to go for it.

Most modern receivers will have no issues running on 50 or 60 hertz power.

Many receivers will even have built in power selectors that can be set to run directly from 230 or 120 volt inputs.
