Color me stupid, but say I want a DVD (input 4) playing side-by-side with a TV channel (input 5); these are two external sources, no?:
I press "Split" on the remote and I see the DVD playing on one side and the other side (PIP) is a black screen with "A11" by it (audio input)?
How the heck do I select input 5 (a TV channel)for the other input?

A11 means Analog 11, which is the internal tuner of the television using the coax input.

Okay, that helps a little.

But how do I view input 4 (DVD via HDMI) and Input 5 (cable channels via HDMI) side by side?

Or, for that matter, the PC input on one side and TV (input 4) on the other side. This should be possible, but I see no instructions on how to do it in the manual...

I am pretty sure, split screen and pic/pic only works with cable/tv feeds. Per the manual I believe, if I read it correctly.

wrong, i have had my hdmi and cable analog on at same time.. to be honest, pip is a pretty useless feature.. i would have rather had more picture controls..

So no one knows how to do this?

All the manual says is that "the flat panel TV can show multiple screens at the same time", and (now I see) "the multi-screen function is unavailable when viewing source from a single input or from two external inputs" (huh?)

However, this is from another post of mine BEFORE I bought the TV:

"Picture-Side-Picture" - can you do this?
With regard to "Picture-Side-Picture" for the Pioneer PDP-5020FD:

Q:
Could I watch a cable channel on one side and surf the internet on the other side via the PC input?

A:
yes on 5080
i have a 5080 and you can do it on 5080; so i'm guessing you should be able to do this on 5020 too

at least ONE feed has to be a cable (or OTA) going to ant A or ant B. i.e., one of the two windows in PIP has to be from ant A or ant B. second can be from any source - dvd, pc, or even the same pic from an STB through HDMI or compo

i don't have a 5020 so i can't be 100% sure but i think the PIP is the same as in older models.

as far as changing the input is concerned (if you have PIP working), the remote will change the input of the window on the LEFT.

HOWEVER, as I said in post above, one of the windows in PIP has to be from ant A or or ant B. SO, if the window on the right is a DVD (say input 4), and the left is an TV channel from A or B, you will not be able to change the input of the left window to, say to any other input.

if i did not answer your question send me a PM
