Hey everyone. I have a few questions with this TV. Sorry, if this is dumb, but I'm not sure if this works or not. First off what I am trying to do is adjust the volume (raise and lower it) on my Logitech Z-640 speakers through the original Panasonic remote. Not turn on the power to the speakers through the TV remote, of course, but just adjust the audio volume. My dads older Sharp LCD can do this by simply setting off the internal speakers and it automatically switches to the external speakers and you can control the volume with the Sharp TV remote. I thought that if an older LCD can do it then surely a newer plasma can. I have tried a lot of options but it doesn't work. :( I've had these speakers forever and I was just wondering if I could get this to work instead of saving money and having to upgrade in a few months. Is this possible at all? Sorry if it's a stupid question. Thanks a lot for your time and replies. It's appreciated.

.. downloading yr 'owner's manual', a check on page 30 mentions 'Viera Link' & Speaker output; switch to Home Theater enables external speakers but it seems they must be Panasonic amp or receiver.
Bad form on Panasonic's part to restrict (if decipher correct) or just wise marketing. :(

.. checking manual again, have you tried turning 'Viera Link' Off & then in Settings (Audio), switching 'Speaker output' On or Off.
Otherwise, I'm at a lose. :(

Thanks. I'll try it out when I can. I just packed all my stuff because we are moving. So, I'll have to try it out in about 4 days. Thanks for the response. I will try it as soon as I move.:)

It would help if you explained exacly how this speaker system is connected to your TV. Are you connecting this system directly to the red & white PROG OUT audio output jacks on the back of the TV? If so, then there is no way to control the speaker system's volume with the Panasonic remote. For that to work the TV would need to have a Variable Output setting in the audio menu but Panasonic dropped this feature on their TVs back in 2003 or so. The PROG OUT jacks only send a fixed Line Out signal so there's no way to adjust the level of this type of output using the TV's remote. Turning the TV's speakers OFF in the menu simply turns the built-in speakers off, but the PROG OUT jacks always send a Line Out signal regardless of which speaker setting you select.
If you're connecting this speaker system in some other manner, (like through an HTPC or Surround Sound Receiver etc) then you need to explain how it's all connected in detail.

Wow. Thanks for the excellent response. I can see now that there is no way to do this except by buying a receiver. Looks like I'll be saving up for a while. Thank you again for the excellent response. It helped a lot.
