View Full Version : Anyone Else Having Rhapsody Trouble?

For the past 2 days I've been having all kinds of trouble hitting Rhapsody from my Squeeze. Slim said it was a known issue at Rhapsody, so I gave it a day, and it's been in and out; I can see my library, but every time I try to play a track, and it's trying to retrieve track information, I get Internal Rhapsody Error: unable to authenticate the user.

I've been dead all day today, so I decide to call Rhapsody; confirm a known issue. What a joke; after 30 minutes of chat all my TSR could come up with is login/logout of my account and reboot...what a wizard!

So I was going to call Slim back, but...boo...no support hours on the weekend! Am I alone in this issue?

i've seen this problem intermittantly using my PC to access Rhapsody. Re-booting or using a different PC does not clear up the problem. It does seem to clear up within a few hours.
I've never called support about it.

I have the same darn problem. I've just spent over an hour re-creating my squeezenetwork account, reseting my Rhapsody account, restarting everything, and all the other shot-in-the-dark fixes people suggest. Nothing works. And yes, I noticed it about 2 days ago. I was able to get Rhapsody to work via squeezebox if I connected using SqueezeCenter sometimes but now both SqueezeCenter and SqueezeNetwork give the same authentication error.

Man, I love accessing Rhapsody via my SqueezeBox but I hate it too! This problem has happened in the past as well. Rhapsody works reliably by itself (from a PC). Squeezebox works reliably by itself for non-Rhapsody usage. But when you put the two together...it's hit or miss. And the developers on either side have proven they don't care to let us users know what the heck the problem is.

I think all we can do is wait...

EJ, two things that I'm going to be looking at if it's not resolved by Monday (when Slim gets back to support). 1) I originally signed up for Rhapsody through Comcast, and I've had several issues in the past where Rhapsody has told me it had specifically to do with Comcast/Rhapsody accounts. 2) I just had SC up on my PC and was trying to access Rhapsody at the Squeeze, and it looks like SC is hanging on getting the cover art. I wonder if there is a way to disable that, but it may be the issue is Rhapsody's .jpg server?

I just wanted to add to this thread - I don't have SqueezeBox, but have been "locked out" of Rhapsody. After about 1 hour of "chat" through two days I am told the Rhapsody is again having internal problems with the new build in my case 4.311. This causes registered users to be unrecognized. Perhaps your matter then is not related to your players but is also due to Rhapsody's internal issues. Bye the way - they did not give any time frame for a fix.

Thanks for the input. I never really thought it was the Squeeze, because everything else is working just fine; streaming my files, Internet Radio, etc. On the other hand, Rhapsody on my PC is working fine. I just figured if it was a widespread problem, some people from this forum would experience it as well and chime in. Glad to see I'm not alone (or crazy...lol).

Btw, Rhapsody customer service is HORRIBLE! Slim had already told me they were aware of an issue at Rhapsody. I just wanted to confirm it, but I guess the Level 1 guys in Malaysia or wherever they're outsourcing these days, are the last to know. He (Kenneth...yeah right) kept me "on chat" for 30 minutes and all he could come up with was reset your password and reboot (with about 10 minutes worth of give me a moment to investigate your issue in between each lame suggestion...worthless!).

Yep, Rhapsody via SqueezeBox started working when I woke up yesterday.

I wonder if there is a Rhapsody forum somewhere that actually comunicates problem/resolutions like this to its users. I'm curious to know what the problem was and to see if there was some kind of workaround (e.g., turning off cover art).

Mine started working again Sunday. Level 2 (one Kalaimathy Kaliyamoorthy) sent me an e-mail saying I should 1) register or sign-in to my SqueezeNetwork account, 2) possibly add my player, and 3) save changes. If that didn't work, update my firmware (which, of course, is up-to-date).

Obviously it was a server issue; stops on its own, without any change from me, starts on its own...without any change from me. It's a valuable lesson learned...like some of the others have said, with support like this, you really don't have any choice but to try and ride it out.
